It's still a gearing issue and timing on a mod motor.You still have to find the "right" gearing for your motor to get it into the right RPM range for what you are using it for.I have been racing RC cars for over 17 years and have yet to find an on road or off road only mod motor,it's all in the timing and gearing,you can make almost any motor work,trust me they dont know the difference.You can change how your motor responds by changing brushes,springs,timing.
