To check if a hinge pin is bent - I prefer to take it completely out... take two allen drivers in my hands and make a level surface between the two to set the hinge pin on. Then I rock the drivers back and forth to cause the hinge pin to roll back and forth along the drivers. By watching it roll - you will easily be able to tell if its bent or not.
