Yeah i read that about cranks, but mines ok (mega ZX12...no putty) More concerned about keeping it rust free, when i bought the engine, no corossion looked fine, started it on bench to fire up, had it run for a min or two....shut it off, drained fuel from carb by trying to restart a few times, put afterun in carb and plug and took exhaust off and put a few in the exhaust port ( it was only bolted to empty chassis, so easily done.

Turned it over a few times on box, and thought that was a good job?! came back off holiday a week later, stripped it all apart properly to clean and found a rusty crank counter weight! Huh!

And also my picco engine has some rust specs and looks grubby, and treated that the same with regards to after run, so it must be my oil?

Just thought that duck oil would be good as it dispels water, as that must have caused the rust...and i've got bottles of duck oil in my garage from my dads work, think it will harm? or shal i get some synthetic mobil?
