All depends on the distance the flywheel is away from the crankcase after installation. The cones that locate the flywheel are all different sizes and you cant measure the distance from the top of the nut to the spring collar as this will vary due to the flywheel gap.
Not sure I am following you here Ziggy. The nut tightens against the flywheel. If the flywheel was 1mm out from the crankcase and you then put another 5mm spacer in then would the nut also not move outwards 5mm????
Therefore you can always measure from the end of the nut to the spring collar as this part of the setup remains constant regardless the position of the flywheel from the crankcase.
