nitro ups: generally longer run times including consecutive runs i.e. just refill your tank and you're good to go. nitro are usually faster out of the box than electric. some people like the tuning aspects of nitro hobby.

nitro downs: loud (will bug the neighbors), smelly, dirty, invovles more maintenance times. although a lot of people see these qualities as 'pros' (including myself).

electric ups: quiet, clean, easier to get into i.e. minimal tuning needed aside from chassis.

electric downs: can be very expensive to keep up with, have to recharge batteries or purchase additional packs to keep the car running.
