They all failed to sell in any reasonable quantity and they were all discontinued.
Why? Because the same people that complain about how expensive a car is will not buy simple low cost cars because they just arent cool enough.
If you want low cost racing Tamiya is somewhat sucessful with cerntain TCS classes. TCS Sedan is really expensive but the M-chassis and 2wd Direct Drive classes are very inexpensive to run.
Tamiya TCS Sedan...expensive??? The TA05 costs lest than 1/2 what a new Mi2 costs and that's a very well performing chassis and I see it wipe out all the new high-end expensive chassis week in and week out.
