The 965mg should have been ok in that application but the 985mg would have been better. As for why the servo "melted" that’s only going to happen if an amperage load is constantly applied to the servo and exceeds the ratings of the amplifier. How was your setup? Did the servo have a constant load applied to it in its neutral position? Were you using an ABS brake function with the servo that would have had a hard pulse setup? Also what voltage battery are you using to power the servo?
