i never tape mine.
The screw in the top of the INS box DOES NOT hold the half's together but only the upper baffle into the top of the box. People tape the side seam to keep the halves together so the top will not pop off. The inlet holes are on the side so you don't really have a lot of room to tape but it saves the "walk the track to find the top of my INS box walk"
