You need a coil /choke even if you connect to the fet wire. Not installing one means you risk blowing up the servo. The fet wire from the speedo is just a connection to the positive battery terminal.
I think the choke coil is built in in the ESC - as far as I remember, the KO 7,2 volt servo manual dont mention that it's neded to solder in a choke coil between the ESC FET-wire and the servo. I'm not sure though.... If I remember it, I will check tonight.
