You can try running o-rings over the ball-ends to tighten-up the play. What you have there sir is what is called "Tamiya-slop"... every Tamiya has it. My 414's and 415's had it .... as did my Evo III and IV. A little shimming and some 0-rings should help tighten things-up without binding the suspension.
