Just letting folks know there's a SUPER deal on infrared thermometers at Harbor Freight (either online or at your local store). They measure up to 230 degrees, so they won't work for nitro guys but they're PERFECT for electric--if you're seeing 230 in electric you're running WAY too hot!! The thermometers are $9.99 until Dec. 26 according to the flyer. I went and bought one (they are in the bins on the left as you enter the store and are part # 93983) to check them out. It's a very nice little unit, when it's sitting idle it displays the time AND ambient temperature and it has a stopwatch function. You'll get $10 worth of fun screwing around with it checking temperatures of everything in your house that doesn't move (and some that do).

It is identical to the my "cheapie" Duratrax ($25--same case, same display) except it's black where the Duratrax is blue, and the Harbor Freight one "only" reads to 230 degreesrather than 400+). I compared it's readings with my $100 PE3 temp gun and they matched right up. If you're racing nitro this isn't for you, but if you're racing strictly electric OR want one in your electric tool box (like I did) these are a sweet deal.

Hope everyone has a GREAT Thanksgiving...and spends a bit of time thinking how we can help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Best,

Scottrik
