Go to a shop that does a lot of airplane stuff. Look for hollow carbon rod. Find the one that's about 1/8" dia. Make yourself a TON of them.

I've done this and while it works, the stuff breaks really easily. The SpeedMerchant one (and I'll assume the Slapmaster as well) must be made from a different grade of material or something because it is much stronger.
