I phoned in today and spoke with Joe. He was primarily thinking interference with the receiver is causing the hesitations. He did mention connectors, though, and that got me realizing that I had done a quick and dirty job when I shortened the ESC's motor wires and reinstalled the 4mm female bullets. I re-did them tonight, well this time, and I'll try it again this weekend.
