From what I've read, I haven't notice anyone post this yet.
When using a oneway entering a turn, you often spinout upon braking. Follow the same line with a spool and you drive right through the corner without a problem. I think braking is used according to car setup.
You replace the drive axle blades far more by using a spool/oneway as opposed to a open front diff. The spool also kills your tires and motor seems to get a bit warmer, but you get through and don't seem to spinout.
Some tracks I think require you to use a spool, while others are fine with a oneway or open diff.
