I bought my first car from Alan, way back in 83 or 84. I remember he converted the carpark out the back of the shop into a crude off-road track, basically just a gravel oval.

You used to be able to race there for free, and I remember how many people would go there to run their Hornets, Frogs etc. They all went like crap but no-one cared

I also remember running at the oil-soaked Ryde track in 87, where they'd get about 100 entries just for a club day Junior Stock would regularly go down to an E final! What a change from today
