look for a little addenum sheet in your box... the short ones go on the steering bridge.
The rounded ones are plenty strong enough. If anything, it's the old style screw-in ones that are weaker.
I sheared the Ti screws holding my servo posts in place in my "last" hit.... and the ball joints are fine.
