NOt only do you still need it-you still want it at full height. Dont cut it too short or you'll have a pile-o-12th if it rolls over and hits a board upside down!! Jon-I am not kidding, a 12th without a rollover can go 20-30' once it goes shiny side down!! Boards do not seem to impede it-only dessimate it.
