The 8ight comes with 2 alum and 2 carbon/plastic shoes. The alum shoes have gold springs and the carbon shoes have silver shoes. As stated above losi is made a change to the carbon shoes for the kit based on on-track performance - yet to be seen exactly what comes with the kit.
By using a mix of alum and carbon shoes, losi was able to get a good mix between punch (all alum shoes) and slipping like plastic / carbon shoes do. On a three clutch system, if your shoes aren't the same weight, you will ruin your clutch bearings (and probably your crank and crank bearings too). the four shoes allow racers to pick 4 plastic, 4 alum or a compromise in between.
I haven't seen the clutch bell, so I can't say that they are not compatible with other 1/8s. I can't imagine that Losi would you a different pitch or size that wouldn't be compatible. Though, if Losi thinks they have an idea, it's not passed them to go against the grain.
