They use to do them back in 95 ,96 and they did make a difference outdoors when cold or indoor in the cold, but completely pointless in hot weather it was cheaper and more effective to leave the tire to bake in the sun for 5 minute before putting them on the car to race. It give you that intial grip and makes the traction compound work better, thus giving you a consistant level of grip through out the run but increases the wear rate of the tyre quite severly.
