I'm sure someone has tried this, does it actually work?

No one I know that uses the LiP charges them on anything other than a normal pit table - no flame-proof boxes! The BRCA Bike section has been using LiPo for a long time now and there have been no problems at all. Airplaine guys must be laughing their (insert body part of choice) at all this continued paranoia, fear of change and climate of fear...
