Fastol...
every competitive racer will always use what is outright fastest..even if it is a tenth per lap, you run what is going to allow you to be the quickest on that particular track...
Last time I came to Kambah I raced group 20 in the summer nats...I was the only racer out of 48 in the class to run rubbers..In a full field of foams, I finished 3rd.
For the 2002 Nationals again at Kambah.I had decided to run Foams, as I wanted to be as competitive as possible.
I had around 8 new sets of Ufras all trued to 58mm.
I spent each round checking Tire diameters, truing tires, changing rollout to compensate for tire wear, changing ride height, checking camber, droop, applying sauce at the crucial minute, then making sure I removed it at the right time...
Allot of work!..all unecessary..Rubbers dont noticably change in Diameter, therefore settings are consistant, and you can spend this time to actually fine tune your car.
as for setups...
my Base rubber setup which was developed for racing TFTR on rubber tires put me 7th in the A final in Mod at the Nationals, my first Mod Nats and first time ever using spongies...
and yes, I just slapped on some 40's front and rear......lol
Perhaps those 2 guys you referred to in stock might have been having trouble setting their cars up period!...they might not have the best setups for their cars, the new track etc....
you still need an idea on car setup or a decent setup to begin with...
I believe I stated that a dialled asphalt setup on rubber will kickass on foam...
I dont believe I said you dont need a setup for foams.!
sorry but you are only quoting selectivly and seeing such a small picture..
good luck racing anywhere outside your little world of N.S.W / Qld in electric, fine if you are never going to race interstate, but the point is, you are living in teh past and a standardised set of rules needs to be implemented across Australia as the rest of the world have done...the current situation is a joke!
In summer we get 10 - 20 runs in mod on T.O 27...in colder conditions we get around 30 runs..ITs all about car setup.
sure an understeering car can wear out tires quicker. but the trick to rubber tires is perfecting car setup, and driving the car correctly, not just yanking the throttle and wheel like a rockape.
distorted facts to make your point...?
We all used traction juice in the Mod A main on foams at the nationals...!!!
the Orion tire chosen as the Control tire at the worlds was simply an incorrect compound choice, it was a unanimous opinion by all racers that a harder compound should have been used, and when the tire was chosen, they hadnt decided to sugar water the track...combined with the scorching temps creates exessive tire wear..The tire worked flawlessly at the warmup race, on a non prepped track and in more favourable conditions.
you dont have to be a genius to work this out...just try running a 25 compound foamies front and rear on a 40 degree day...try and tell me they will last.
Fastol...show me the money...heheh..stir stir
