When I got this truck I was literally AMAZED by it's 'beat-ability'. Everything in this thing is a Savage on crack. The upper control arms are something of a spectacle just by themselves. The Proline 40-series Dirt Hawgs W/T help with the impression.

Anyhow, I smoked the half-dead clutch/spur in it and the motor is full of metal filings. All hope is not lost.

I got on the phone with RDLogics and quickly had the new clutch parts ordered and they showed up 2 days later at a 5-dollar shipping instead of the higher price the site listed. Those got dropped in that afternoon and now I sit and wait for the new 4.6 motor to arrive. For the curious...
SH 28 3.6HP ROTO START 6-PORT MONSTER Savage Engine.
This thing is going to be MEAN!!! A 4.6 with 3.6HP is something I'm going to have to see for myself. At least I'll get to see how bulletproof those arms are next week.
Just to satisfy curiosity I also ordered a Savage 25 yesterday. That should be here Monday and the Wolverine's replacement motor should be here a day or two after. Bottom line = we'll see first hand how similar these things really are. I just wanted to add in this thread that the Wolverine does indeed seem to be a basher-from-hell truck that just seems TOO meaty for any competitive racing. The Savage with Integy arms should be able to handle that need for me as long as the 4.1 in it is still up to snuff. Got my eyes on a Hellfire 4.6HO (used) for $300 now that might be the next project in line. I'll get the new motor dropped in this Wolverine first and let you guys know how it came out but let me end this by saying that RDLogic's knowledge, initiative, shipping-speed, price and availability are no longer a question in my mind. One day on the phone...2 later the parts are in Massachusetts from California for a finney. Who could ask for more?
NilSatis, I'll check out these links tonight once I get sat down again. I'm just on break from the HUGE track I'm building in the back woods. I've cleared 100' x 150' easy of pure woods all the way down to loose dirt. I may not end up with the biggest, best or most popular but I DAMN sure bet that when it's done it will be the best track inside of 50 miles. (Since that's why I'm building it, there isn't any around here. :P) I'll be sure to get some good digital shots of it. RATS!!! I should've done a "build" gallery of the track from start to finish. You'd think I'm nuts to clear the over-grown woods. This is pure undergrowth hell but what I've done...I've DONE!! And it will be great to race on. Hell, I might have to call up a couple buddies to bring their electric Stampedes over here so I have something to aim these REAL MT's at.
Race it like you stole it...
