I strongly disagree with the series format for determining national championships. Far to great of a commitment of time and money.
How about a 'stepping stone' qualification approach. Make the regionals more relevant by, using them as qualifyers for nats. This will give more incentive for ROAR membership, greatly increase regional participation (give a much needed boost to several clubs/tracks). Eventually have state champs to qualify for regionals...End result; BIG increase in membership.
ROAR has been becoming more progressive & responsive to the needs of the racing community. Let's keep it moving forward..
