He finished 2nd in 1992 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is the only person to win 2 out of 3 A-mains and LOOSE the World Title. They used total overall time from the 2 A-mains to determine the winner. I do not know why.

Yeah, I lost a New Zealand National Title by 0.4sec in 2004 in Touring Mod because we use the overall time system.
But in saying that I have won titles because of using points that I never would have won by using the time system.
