no damage is permanent, you can rebuild things, but it is not good to put on bigger tires unless you re-gear the car. I don't know if you can re-gear low enough to get the right ratio you need. If you are to continue to use bigger tires, go and get the smallest clutchbell and largest spur gear you can get for your car.
