i found the same problem with the tz os carby so i turned the carby away a little just enough to clear and adjusted the carb ball end around so it doesn't rub anyware andd didnt have to grind anything of the carb
looks like the prevois owner did mod the upper plate though

Joe you'll find with the mbank gearing it doesn't touch anyway..doesn't it? mine doesn't dude. the gearing pushes it out just that little bit
