Hara 2.1 Speedo

i have just brought a Atushi Hara 2.1 speedo and see that it has a large power capacitor on it i am struggerling with room in my car and was just wondering if any 1 could tell me weather it is esential to run the speedo with it or not ??????? and what will happen to it if i dont run it ?????
