I finally got around to removing the cover plate of my engine today (first time), after runinng about 3/4 of a gallon of 20% Nitro through it (break-in + 5 race days). Given all the stories I was hearing about how much "gunk" people were finding in their engines after just break-in alone, I was kind of worried about what I might find. Other than some
discoloration on the crankshaft and on the connecting rod around the crank wrist pin (Yeah, I Know what you're thinking!

), I didn't find that much gunk in it.
Attached are two photos. On the crankcase, the oil discoloration is just a reflection.
Any comments or advice?
Thanks!
BTW: I have to go find myself a flywheel removal tool before I can pull out the crankshaft.
