I second Paul's comments on the diff and the diff spacers.
I too break in my diffs on a car stand and also use super high-grit sand paper to polish the diff rings. The rear diff is quite smooth on my asphalt EC.
By experimentation I found that one diff shim was just right on the car. With four, it's incredibly tight.
