interesting...., yes you could upgrade a v-one-s to close to v-one-r/rr specs (as I have done) however the cost of the exersize would make it somewhat prohibitive (as I have found out).

Chassis $120.00
Carbon fibre top plate (inc fueltank and batteries)$150.00
Two speed $100.00
Shocks $100-200
One way $85.00
Diff upgrade $50.00
Engine and pipe $500-700

Its more economical to buy the r or rr straight up or youll end up with a $1200 v-one-s that hardly gets raced anymore
The thing that does make a difference is experience as I wouldnt buy an r or rr if I were a total newbie whereas an s is the ideal (yes there are others) car for a beginner to start with. Durability being a major factor and upgradability being another).

Gearing is not really an issue as it can be changed.

Two major factors effecting this sport are the two extremes of cars available in the marketplace.
1) Cheap junk that breaks easily and discourages people from continuing racing.
2) People confusing thier ambition with thier capabilities and buying pro-level cars that they havent got a hope in hell of getting around the track in one piece.
But yes I agree, the v-one-s is an excellent car and good value for money!
