jeffreylin, jag and tommi:

Thanks for the info. I'll rebuild the clutch assembly per the instructions while checking the clutch bell, reset the engine to the factory settings and spend some more time breaking in the engine. This should get me to a baseline starting point. If I still have problems with the clutch, I'll start adjusting the preload nut. Sound like a plan?

I have one additional question, if you don't mind. Do I leave the carb reducer in the carb or take it out? It is currently in the carb. The manual doesn't say anything one way or the other and I don't know how this affects the break-in procedure.

I'll definitely report back on the results!!
