I have both.I'll prefer the speedtech spool to the tamiya because I want the reliability,as I'm not a very Pro driver,so mistakes bound to happen. Even a friend of mine who is a top driver at the club also prefers speedtech.
But the tamiya spool does give more steering than the steel speedtech one.
