FUEL
Hi again MM.
Yes I do make my own..then i know whats in it..
You say the chineese nitro is ok...I still think the US nitro is better..i havnt even tried using the chineese nitro as i have had bad reults with it in the past and i havnt used it since,,
I remmember years ago, that when I mixed the fuel..the oils went in first.. then the nitro. the mix went blue, then when u added the methanol, it went darkish brown. ley it sit for a minumin of 24 hours and it went to a lite brown...The fuel doesnt do this no more..why is this?
was there a dye in the older vp range?
You say "5 race meetings" for a motor...thats not very good!.
I have motors that are AS NEW and are 5 years old, they get run every second weekend and they still go hard.. I change the rod evry 6-7 hours of running..the original piston and liner. These are the JP range...so they go hard any way...
I personally wouldnt be happy about your stated longevity of the motors.
I have been doing my own motor mods for years..I started on 1/8 scale motors..and now that 1/12 are open ( to a degree) I can get my motors to scream......I was a good friend to RODY at the nitro worlds I attended one year..
It was amazing to watch...he had 1/2 a dozen motors at once, hed have his dremmel, do a bit, give it to his drivers, theyd run it, hed strip it, re do-it and theyd run it till they were happy...hes a real geniuose when it comes to modifying motors. and i did learn ALL the little things...which I feel are the most important....
Do you balance your cranks?
I use a lazer guided turbo balancer,,this unit costs $60000 its a briiliant tool.
,My best mate builds turbos, and i have the benifit of his knowlidge and exsperiance..im still trying to get a small enough turbo so as to turbo charge a nitro motor..should be interesting.
I balance EVERYTHING that i can...it makes a huge difference to performance, ware and tear.
regards
mike
