don't you insert the pivot ball from the bottom of the arm(ie:asc. manual), not sure if thats the problem but on the x-ray shocks it matters which way the pivot balls go in. one side is slightly smaller than the other, you insert them into the larger side.

Dang, never thought about that. I always install the pivot balls through the bottom of the arm.
