Ozite in appearance is very similar to some types of indoor/outdoor carpet...
where the major differences seem to be are in the fine details like the strengthof the backing, the density of the weave and the quality of the fibres used.
I've seen tracks try to get away with 'budget pseudo-ozite' and it was a disaster. The cars came off the track full of fuzz, the carpet didn't want to stay glued down...it would ripple and stretch...and ultimately it didn't last a fraction as long as the real stuff.
Any money saved initally was spent..and then some due toracers staying away and the carpet needing premature replacement....
That's not to say that there isn't stuff out there that will work....ther might be...you just need to investigate a bit deeper...
