I can't relate because I bought the car second hand and it came the brace. Tape is too much of a pain in the rear but is it worth it?
It most certianly does make a difference. This is why you will see 99% of the factory drivers using tape even though its a little more work
I use the the black strapping tape made popular in oval because one piece last the entire race day! I strap my first pack in and then peel back the tape for each battery change; pretty darn simple
