The G9 would still be very competitive today as long as its in top condition, like said earlier keep an eye on the temp of the G9 as you don't want to burn it up. If it does not overheat than it should still be in good shape. The G9 is just lacking some of the updated software that the G10 pro + and now the G11 have. It may not be as smooth but it should still be very cometitive on the track.
I have been tested a few race with a G9, it's seems very punch in low-middle speed than my G10pro+, very easy to control and get fast even use a poor pack, but it so hot after a race even in a low temp wealther but it did't stop operating in this high temp, so I think the optional heatsink must need.
