To smooth the tape slots and other narrow areas or the whole car you can use strips of sandpaper. Clamp the carbon piece to a bench and sand the edges holding the ends of the strip of sand paper using tension to press against the edge you are smoothing.
Remember that the dust from the sanding is nasty - try not to breath it etc.
I used wet water proof sandpaper on the last chassis I sanded and that seemed to keep the dust down, but was a bit messy and left dust on the chassis.

Too much ca can cause fogging around the glue, it can be cleaned off though.

It looks better if you take your time and don't ca it to the table or your hand...
