Why would Tamiya invest huge man hours not counting the money if they will just be designing a car that will be more inferior to a model that it will be replacing, its just like compairing a 414 to a 415 , an FK04 to an FK05,a 2001 5series bimmer to a 2006 bimmer, a newer design would MOST of the time be better, but I'm not saying an older one is not winnable , just my two cents.
