That setup guide is pretty good. I am really addicted to these little cars. not playing with my others for 5 years or so these mini's have really gotten me back in the hobby. I can't believe how buch I have dumped into them in 2 weeks. Found out with a little online research why the m-01 is so much faster than the m-03
M-01 gear ratio 2.4375
M-03 gear ratio 3.134
this would shurly make the difference.
-------------------
This is just an additional info about the gear ratio of M03 which one of the Tamiya tech gave me a long time ago. I found it on my old hard drive.
Spur 37T / Pinion 20T = 1.85
Differential 39T / Spur 'Low' 21T = 1.85715
Counter Gear 'Hi' 27T / Counter Gear 'Low' = 1.6875
Multiply the results and it will give you = FDR 5.79:1 or rounded 5.8:1
To get the 'internal gear ratio' :
1.85715 X 1.6875 = 3.1339
from Spur/pinion of 1.85 X 3.1339 = FDR 5.79:1 or rounded 5.8:1
Hope this helps.
Cheers
