Not to undermind you, or insult you but, Laquers are no good on composite surfaces. Laquers also have no UV protection. The Laquers I think you are refering to, were made many years ago. They had whats call Isocyonates in them. That is what made them EXTREMLY durable. Back in the late 80's the paint manufactures had to remove these harmful chemicals from there products which took all the durability out of laquers. Not sure how old you are but if you can remember the paint peeling off of ALL the mid and late 80's cars and trucks.

I have not heard of Gem Coat. The clear that I use is made by PPG.
