I am not sure where you guys got your information about the old AMB and the new AMBrc working together. They don’t. At least the instruction book that came with the AMBrc said they don’t work together, the testing I did when I brought our tracks full setup to another track that had the AMB20 setup didn’t work, and calling and talking to the guys at AMB-US in Georgia said they don’t work together.

The old transponders send out an analog signal. The new AMBrc decoder box only knows how to read the digital signal sent by the new transponders.

The only old thing that works with the new AMBrc setup is the race management programs. When you first turn on the AMBrc decoder it is in AMB20 mode, meaning that it will read the new transponders (and only them) but only send the last digit of the 7 digit code to the race management program. That way you don’t have to change the program you are using. If anybody shows up with a personal transponder, they won’t be able to use it unless you assign them a car number that matches the last digit on their personal transponder.

I wouldn’t recommend that you allow racer to use personal transponder if you are running the old software with the new AMBrc system. We tried that, and when the races were resorted for the main, on of the racers that was using a personal transponder ended up with his car number changing. He knew that he needed to use one of the club transponders so his car would be counted but he forgot to disconnect his personal transponder. His personal transponder number ended with a 6 and there was another racer on the track using the club transponder number 6. According to the computer, car number 6 ended the race with twice as many laps as everybody else.

In my experience, no, the personal transponders do not work with the AMB20 systems.
