Thats how I mesh mine too ! then I pop the car on the track and listen carefully to the sound to see if it's too tight !

There will be problem if you running spur very small. With 64p 90T spur (Kawada), you need to use at least 36T to get a close enough gear gap, means highest ratio will be 5.4675. Anything smaller than 36T will causing problem. So unless your motor is something super torque, don't use spur which is smaller tha 94T.
Huh ? ..I dun wan a smaller spur ! .....I wanna bigger one i.e: 128T Spur ! ....then I can fit in a 5T cobalt motor !
