Just a quick note that i don't know if you have considered, years ago they ran magnesium wheels which is where the name Mag wheel came from, the problem with these is that Magnesium is flammable in it's pure form and when these wheels experienced a blow out they would spark on the road and catch fire. Now they mix an alloy of Magnesium and Aluminium to retain the light weight properties but eliminate the flamability. If you are going to buy Magnesium sheet make sure it is an alloy and not pure.
Would anodizing fix this? Also not sure if they will really get bad to where they would catch fire....generally a car driving on its rim is some serious friction/heat.
But hay I wouldnt mind seeing my chassis catch flame. I say stick with it. If anything Ill bring the car over to me during a race and put it out....the cool factor of exstinguishing your lightweight magnesium chassis outweighs the loss of time. LOL, im not joking.
