This is said better than FM.But its more expensive,in terms of crystals and receivers.Thats why FM is still the choice of most racers.Besides I think Futaba offers PCM on their car radios.

The spektrum is a 'new' technology in RC. Using an ultra high frequency.Spektrum has their own radio.If you planning of getting other FM radios,the spektrum module and reciever can be purchased seperately.But its expensive.

I believe you're a beginner.So I suggest to get a relatively good FM radio.At least the radio can grow with you.Unlike if you buy cheap AM radio,you will grow out of it quite fast....
