i firmly believe in supporting a local guy, but $100 bux more for a kit is an insult!! 95 % of the shop owners know there margin is made on there little stuff, parts and tires etc. my local sells cars about 10% higher than internet, and iv been coming to him long enuff he gives me a 10 % dicount on everything. the track is were they make 70 % of there income. i would talk to him, if you feel comfortable with the guy, let him know what you can get elsewhere. i believe its worth it to pay a slight increase over internet prices, but not 35% more. if he insists on not budgeing on price, buy the car from where you want to, race at his track, get parts from him. when he see's enuff people do this he will either wise up and say "hay these guys are my bread and butter and im not treating them right" and hell lower his prices, or hell just dissapear!
