The disadvantage of laying the servo down as that there is more bump steer. If you have the servo saver pointing up and use the lowest holes, it is minimized. I usually lay the servo down with old style arms and mount it on an angle for the new style.
Here's a picture of my Q12 with TC3 servo mounts. I also mounted the antenna sideways so I could fit the reciever pack.
