These esc’s don’t seem to have issues as I now have (6). It sounds like after speaking with you he wanted to double verify that there was no issue or that whatever issue you had was completely resolved. I can only speculate but he most likely saved you from a future DNF somewhere.
These esc’s and servos are hands down the best that I’ve ever ran to date. I try out nearly every brand (my son included) this company products and support is on another level for sure.

PS in my experience most “repaired” Esc’s are only more prone for a failure later (regardless of brand)
and it sounds like he offered you a discount on a replacement when he didn’t even have to do that!
