I've had grubscrews back out on my pinions during a race, so I started using purple threadlock. It's just strong enough to prevent them backing out and weak enough to let go when I need to remove the pinion.

The purple magic is so good, I use it on everything that I know I won't have to undo frequently - like bulkheads and motor mounts.
