I luckily have Two, One NIB and one thats done about 10 club days - they drove excellent
From what i remember being told by the local TRF driver, not quite word for word but same meaning "Tamiya have noticed Many brands are entering the market, This Reduces market share and will Ultimately End our R&D"
From other chat, it sounded like there isnt enough money left in the shrinking market due to more brands so less money available to develop their 1/8 platform.
1/8 buggy has kinda been halted, The cars are not really any better than cars available in 2014 - maybe some for those onroad tracks that have jumps but thats not offroad, regardless of what anyone says thats just sh1t.
